We Could Use Your Help

One of our adopted families was hit with a $500 car repair last week that really set them back.  It would really help them get back on top of things if we provided food again this weekend.  If your name starts with the letters A-F please bring Gatorade or Fruit Juice, G-L Chips and Cookies, M-R Lunch Meat, S-Z Hamburger Meat or Chicken.

We will be collecting the above items Saturday night at church...

Saturday September 7th

Join us this Saturday at 5:55pm for a special Communion Service.  We would also like to invite you to help us bless our adopted families by bringing the following food items:  If you last name starts with the letters A-F Gatorade, Fruit Juice, or Juice Boxes, G-M Canned Veggies and Fresh Fruit, N-S Pop Tarts and Snack Cakes, T-Z Spaghetti Sauce and Hamburger Helper.  If you would like to donate "ANY" other food items please feel free...

Adopted Family Updates

We adopted our first family of 6 (mom, dad, and 4 boys) back in January of 2013.  Since January: mom and dad have completed several financial courses with a local credit union, paid almost all of their past due bills, started a savings account, and much more.  They have since moved to a better hotel and are preparing for their future.  We are working alongside the family, along with the local school district, a local credit union, and a non-profit group called Beyond Housing.  Our initial goal was to help the family transition from a hotel to an apartment in about a six month period of time.  As we started building a relationship with them, watched how hard they were working, and more people got involved, we realized that we could do even better then moving them into an apartment.  It became clear if we all continued to work together that they could become home owners.  Here we are 8 months into our journey and 8 months closer to helping them move into their own home.  We are hoping and praying that they will be able to make a move into a house before the end of the year.  We want to thank all the people of simplechurch for being in this for the long haul!!!

In June we started building a relationship with another local family of 5 (mom, dad and 3 boys).  This family too lives in a local hotel.  We have provided food for the family several times, as well as, presented them with special Back To School gift cards to help with school clothes, school supplies and food.  We are excited about continuing to build a relationship with this new family and getting them enrolled in our financial education program with the local school district and local credit union.

Thank you simplechurch for loving God by loving people!!!

Moore Mission Trip

Our team spent the day doing demo work and clean up at a families house.  The amount of work that got done was huge! They learned that over 35,000 have come to volunteer with ServeMoore and that for every hour someone serves the city gets 1 dollar to help families affected by the tornado.  ServeMoore has raised over 1 Million dollars for there city!!!

Mission/Serve Trip

Today when we showed up to pick up the rental van for our trip: our reservations were entered wrong and we were told it would cost us $200 more then expected.  About 30 minutes after we left an employee from the rental company called and said they knew me from my former church and made a call and the original price would be honored since it was their mistake!  When we arrived in Oklahoma City, OK at our hotel we had pre-paid: it wasn't at all like the pictures.  It was really messed up, I mean really messed up.  We called the company that booked the room and they refunded us 100% on a non-refundable reservation.  We just found a great hotel for a great rate!!! It's time to crash so we can start serving in the morning!!!
